Comprehension Strategy Instruction
As mentioned in my last blog comprehension strategies have to be taught for students tp be able to comprehend text at all levels. This present blog will focus on the fact that comprehension strategies can be taught at the preschool and kindergarten age groups. Web sites such as www.squidoo.com/readingcomprehensionstrategies offer practical advice for parents to enable them to provide their children with comprehension strategies even before they go to school. Suggestions include reading stories to them, linking the stories to the children's experiences and asking questions before, after and during the story.

Hi Ottilene,
ReplyDeleteI believe that it is important for parents to read to their children at a very young age. In fact research states that parents should read to their unborn. Parents have the capacity to develop strong reading habits in their children if they read to them, with them and provide a special time everyday where the whole family sits and reads. Nowadays we have ebooks which contain the following features such as being audio, visual and interactive. It is ideal for our children who are living in this technological age. Some of these ebooks can be downloaded for free. Isn't that wonderful for parents and children.
