Being able to read is a source of empowerment. When someone can read, the whole world is virtually opened up to them. It may be possible to survive without being able to read but it will be a very bland existence. It would also mean that such persons will have to depend on people who can read for assistance.
Therefore everyone should learn to read. Parents should ensure that their children learn to read. If their children are having difficulties acquiring the various reading skills, parents should become advocates for their children. They should demand that the school find assistance for their children, so that their children will experience the sense of empowerment that being able to read will bring to their lives.

Here at Last
Well yes, finally I have created my blog and started posting. I must say I feel a sense of satisfaction eventhough I am way behind everybody else in the class in doing this. My blog title 'Blessed Readers' is very reflective of my belief that all good things in life, including being able to read and being able to help children learn to read, are blessings from God. I look forward to being able to share my thoughts on reading and on the process of becoming a reading specialist and to receiving comments from everyone.
